Prominent owner breeder Felizardo “Jun” Sevilla, last week produced two outstanding Australian imports at the Padre Garcia track, with Justice Prevails winning a 3YO and Above Maiden over 1200 meters on Friday night, and Repertory a runaway winner in the 3YO and Above Maiden over 1400 meters on Sunday.
Justice Prevails, a four-year-old colt by Justify (USA) out of the Volksraad mare My Tusker, raced handy in the run and easily accounted for his opposition under rider A M Bufete for trainer Jerry Cruz. The bay is a half-brother to Game Keeper, the winner of the 2020 Adelaide Guineas (1600m). The colt was purchased out of the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sales by Jun Sevilla, and whilst he has been slow to mature, looks to have a big future ahead of him.
While Justice Prevails was impressive, Repertory’s win was mind blowing, with the colt putting fifteen lengths on his opposition from the 600 meter point, in what was an embarrassment for his rivals. Prepared by former champion jockey Jesse Guce and ridden by A P Asuncion, Repertory is a product of the October 2024 Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale. Judging by Sunday's victory the colt is destined straight for the top bracket.
It was a big week for leviathan owner breeder Leonardo “Sandy” Javier, with the stable’s neon pink and blue star racing colors carried to victory on five occasions.
Vee Gee (Art Moderne USA) got the ball rolling on Wednesday night, with an easy five length win over the other stable runner Advocacy (Storm Cat Johnny USA), in the Class 5 over 1200 meters for jockey M M Gonzales and trainer Richard Tupas. Magical Zap (Zap USA), made it two wins for the night for Javier, when he bolted in under apprentice R C Simacio in the Class 4 over 1200 meters for conditioner Edgardo Lumpay.
Sunday seen the stable land three winners, starting with the Australian bred Hole in One (Speith NZ), appreciating the huge drop-in class from the Eduardo Cojuangco Cup back to a Class 4 over 1400 meters, with Pabz Cabalejo for trainer Edgardo Lumpay. Cool Mom (Zap USA) made it back-to-back wins under a lovely rail hugging ride by the apprentice R C Simacio in the Class 5 1400 meters for Renato Yamco. Whilst Gavel (Art Moderne USA), gave the stable their treble for the day when the five-year-old scored a narrow win, giving Pabz Cabalejo to wins for the day and also trainer Renato Yamco.
